Ace first three or four weeks of ownership including some excellent drives across the A65 to Cumbria and back.

But - bit of an interesting development today. Drove back from Manchester last night over the moors (thoroughly enjoyed it) and stuck the car in the garage at about 8pm. Needed to drive the short hop to work in Leeds this morning so pulled the car out and went to shut the garage door when what did I spy but a small pool of oil (possibly a dozen drops) on the floor.

Now, without being paranoid, I have been keeping an eye out for this kind of thing. The wierd thing, however, is that this stuff was pretty central and appeared to have come from the front of the car (pretty much in line with the wheels - probably where it would be if the front diff was leaking on a C4, I imagine).

Was wearing a suit and late for work hence didn't crawl under the car to investigate. Plan is to clean the floor tonight and whack down some paper to double check a) it's a recurrent problem and b) its not from the BMW that used to occupy the garage.

I don't want to become one of these guys who spends every waking hour sweating over where his 16 year old car is dripping relatively inconsequential amounts of oil from but, has anyone out there had a similar issue? Is there somewhere obvious that this could be coming from (I'm stumped)?

There are NO oil components in the centre of the front of a 964 C2, there is a steering rack that could leak fluid (unlikely) or brake pipes (unlikely) there are also drain holes in the boot floor, you sure a bottle of oil hasn't spilt?

You're probably (hopefully) right. I'll have to check overnight whether or not this is a rogue sample from elsewhere. It was just the convenient positioning (i.e. directly central between the front wheels) that made me suspicious.

Cheers for the help (again)!

I have just replaced my front oil cooler as I had a similar small leak at the front. It runs down on to the undertray and is deposited at the edge.

Drop the undertray or the wheel arch liner on the right and have a look.

Cheers for the advice. I've been away for a couple of days so should have some evidence one way or the other when I shift it out of the garage tomorrow.

Bloody good idea why didnt I think of that!

Yes the corner splitters run a good way back, but there is a big vent hole iunderneath so id expect some to be coming out of there, if there is a leak its usually the pipes as opposed to the cooler, but the coolers arent silly money, about £200 from memory, the pipes are silly money and a pig to do though!
