We went to the 03 race and enjoyed both days. We only had seats for the race at the secind chicane and spent Saturday wandering around. The crowd are great, so enthusiastic that its like being at the theatre. Be sure to take a look at the old banking while its still there.
Went last year and had tickets for the primia variante (first curve) and it was quite eventful on the Saturday, particularly with the GP2 and Porsche cup cars. The atmosphere is brilliant. I would suggest buying tickets directly from the circuit; no need to pay a UK middleman's premium. See www.monzanet.it We stayed in Bergamo; it was a 45 minute train ride but it wasn't overrun with F1 fans and the old city on the hill is quite nice. Plus Ryanair flies into Bergamo airport.
