If I am not mistaken TVR quote 170hp for the 2.9 however ford quote various to 150hp.I have a 75k mile Sierra engine which I will be fitting in the future but I dont want to drop power to 150hp as Ive seen quoted for the Sierra. Are the figures I've seen correct or do they give out the same power,if they dont then whats different??
Were there mods by TVR?? Cam Head Work etc??

I believe the 'extra'' 10 bhp is caused by the (TVR) exhaust manifolds

TVR figures are TVR figures.... if you could create an extra 20BHP by just adding slightly different manifolds Ford would have done....!!

Take the TVR figures with a pinch of salt IMHO

Put my S2 on the roling road, with Surrey Rolling Road last weekend. It has had no modifications and was pushing out 151.6 bhp. Everyone else there said you can never trust the figures that TVR used to put out for their cars.

The 2.9 engine is bog standard Ford except for the exhaust and the air intake.

Hi guy's,

Last time I RR'd my S3c it was putting out 162bhp, and as far as I know it's had nothing done to it - the guy on the RR was impressed 'cos he had the ford figures in his head.

We had a rolling road day a couple of years ago - mine wasn't tested but the other V6 there (an S2) was just over 160 bhp - so maybe the exhaust and intake do help.

Offcourse... that's what TVR says. But I think the Capri 2.8 has the extra 10 bhp aswell.

brigdav - how much of a difference did the Dastech chip make to the driveability of the car, rather than the numbers on paper?

Massive difference...

Much smoother and gradual pull through the entire rev range...
There's a few of us who have done this now.. I'm sure everyone will agree...
I'll find a couple of threads where myself & Podie reported on the experience.

Back soon.
