Just bought a 944 S2 Cabrio. Followed all the right advice...bought the first one I saw ! but at least it wasn't at night and raining!!
Car drives well, has a decent history and no apparent previous damage, in fact it looks like a new car. My only concern is some "bubbles" on the sill stonechip paint.I will have to investigate, but it sees odd that there may be rot lurking there when the rest of the car is so good. Any advice out there? Are the sills "easy" to replace if the worst happens? I have a great body man, so am not worried about getting it done if that is what it needs. The purchase price factored in this scenario. What a great car to drive, after a TVR wedge it feels SO solid!

I only know about the hard-tops, but they were prone to rust along the sills. Well, not to much 'were', more 'they can be'. The galvanisation was all well and good, but won't be offering that much protection 18-odd years down the line.
Repair is meant to be fairly easy, and the parts are available.
So, if you have a good bodywork man, probably nothing too much to sweat about. BUT get it done sooner rather than later, as it tends to spread.
944's are solid as a rock on the road. I have never driven anything else that feels quite so riveted to the tarmac at all speeds (1.3 leptons plus.)
Oli.

Yes get it repaired as soon as possible as it will only get worse. Most 944s that I see have some sort of corrosion going on around the sills. It tends to come from the back and the galvanisation has slowed the process down but at this age it will not prevent it spreading.
Worst case scenario is two new sills to be welded in. Genuine sills from Porsche are circa £175 a side. If you catch it quick a good bodyshop will be able to patch teh existing sill and stop the rot
