Well nearly.

I have been saving for what seems a life time now and yesterday I finally shook on a deal for a M12 GT0-3.

I just wanted to thank all you guys + girls for your help at the owners day at Brands as this ultimately led me to this very car.

I look forward to being in the Nobility and hopefully I can join you on some of the forth coming track days etc.

Speak to you all soon.

James.

P.S. I still can't get over how well it drove or should that be how fast it was!!!!!

Thanks for the welcome guys!!!

Looks like I should be picking it up at weekend some time. It can't come quick enough.

Look forward to meeting some of you at Oulton Park in November.

Just a quick serious question. I have read many stories about the standard diff failling on the 5 speed GTO-3. How much will it cost to replace if it goes pop i.e. parts and labour?

James.

Not sure for certain but about 2500 seems to ring a bell. As long as you don't give it too many beans from standstill too often will be fine.

And the rest, mine went after 4 months (brought it in Nov) I had a 24k service and ball joints also done (most of this labour was swalled in the diff labour. As I drove the car back home with the dif gone it meant it was better to replace gearbox rather than take apart and recon the old one. Total cost about 4k.

I've asked the question before how many diffs have actually failed but no one seems to know for sure.Just be aware of the high torque figure your car has and avoid the main thing that breaks things i.e clumsy use of the clutch changing gear and racing starts in first gear.Road driving or track, smooth is best.

One owner had the car re-mapped to get the power smoother to take some load off the diff. Matt FP did this.
