I will own an Ultima one day. Perhaps when I go back to contracting or we sell the house and move somewhere cheaper or when the kids are older or we win the lottery! I have decided to own one though.

What I haven't been able to say decide on is whether I'd get a GTR or a Canam. I lean towards the GTR but I do like convertibles.

I then wondered if you could use the rear bodywork of the GTR with the chassis, doors and screen from a Canam and make a custom pop-out roof? You could then have a bit of wind-in-the-hair but the style and security of the GTR. I don't think it would take much to do either.

Anyone had similar thoughts or looked into whether or not it's feasible?

Hi Jamie

I am already making plans to make a targa style roof for my Can-Am. Firstly I am going to make a rear section with a small window in it that comes over and finishes just in front of the roll bar. Then I will make the targa section which will be T-top style with two removable sections and I will make the bar removable. The reason for the T-top style to so that the sections can be stored behind the seats. The T pieces will also hinge up so access will be easier into the car. You will be able to follow the progress later this year on my website.

It has been discussed before. My solution was to make the windows in the GTR removable. It is easy and allow as much sound and wind to get in as you'll want.
