3 Years Living with an Ultima
Discussion
Overall been a good experience. Canam passed the first MOT on Saturday without any issues. Looking back over 3 yrs and 9,500 miles a worthwhile time. The only major problems have been a constant irritation with alternator brackets which has now been finally solved (I hope). Original ali versions replaced by SSteel copies. Engine bore deglaze resulting from bore wash. This is an unresolved problem. Apart from this, trouble free motoring, easy to service and luckily never kept record of the fuel or oil lake consumed over ownership.
Bodywork has held up very well apart from own knocks. The interior does not look 100% as original Alcontara has faded badly. Will maybe replace with leather.
So lets have a cheer for long term Ultima ownership.

My GTR has been on the road for 6 years now and has just passed its fourth MOT. The only parts I have had to replace are the suspension bushes (I'm on my third set, but these appear to be coping better than previous ones) and a throttle cable. I have never had problems with alternator brackets or overheating (tempting fate here!) I have Ultima cloth covered seats which still look like new and are, in my opinion, better than alcontara (fades and "moults"
and leather (gets very hot when the sun shines on them!) Its a pity the factory don't do them anymore (maybe they're not bling enough). My only gripe is the lights. I have the early triple light system which is absolutely hopeless on dip beam.
