Painting edge of windows before gluing?

Well my dad used some plastic piant to paint the rim around the windows so that when they are glued in the glue can not be seen. to me it seems like the paint may jsut fall off as it doesnt seem to be on there very well. Do other people do this an what kind of paints did you use? i was thinking some trim paint might have been better

There is a special paint that comes with the windscreen bonding kit. If you are having a screen fitter do the job then he will have the paint.

I agree most other types of paint will not adhere properly. Don't forget the screen is probably regarded as a structural member when bonded in correctly.

Don't use plastic paint it doesn't work. I used Tamiya model car paint...this was a bad idea. It is slowly coming away from the inside of my windows and headlights. Bummer.

The thing to use is apparently Betaprime plastic primer which can be had from a windscreen repair place.

I used silka primer 209 + silka sealant 295 it was recommended by another ultima builder. So far no problems. In the USA you can get it from www.jamestowndistributors.com/

I used PPG DP90. Had to clean the window with alcohol first.
