Support 1962 Le Mans TVR at the Classic Le Mans 2006
Discussion
For those that don't already know, the original TVR Grantura that entered the 1962 Le Mans 24 Hour will be competing at the Classic Le Mans this weekend.
Please show your support to Car 64, driven by Daniel Nash and Kingsley Marten.
A few pics from my phone - excuse the poor quality, of final prep prior to loading the race coach.

Le Mans 1962 TVR Grantura III
Update - Daniel Nash and Kingsley Marten managed to come a very respectable 20th in class (70 Cars) after starting from 46th, in the process beating the 1963 TVR Grantura Mk III of Philip Hooper and Malcolm Wood , all the MGs, a few GT40s and various Ferraris and Porsches.
The car ran faultlessly but could do with a slightly less restrictive exhaust system as the power was being choked on the Mulsanne straight above 6500rpm and top speed was about 125mph.
Daniel has promised that if the car attends Back Home next weekend, the car will not be washed.

They beat the MGB's? Sugar!
When watching round 3 I saw MGB no. 16 was well ahead of the only Tiv, but I guess the results are a accumulation of the 3 rounds, and I didn't get to see that plateau at other times.
In round 3 only the 2 Morgans were ahead of MGB 16 (of the sort of cars you'd expect an MGB to be racing with). The Tiv, the TR4 and a very healthy and respectable assortment of Elans, E-Types, ferraris and 911's were behind the B.

Here's the B before passing the Grantura. The yellow flag is 'cos Adrian Newey has chucked his GT40 at the scenery and thus spoiled the race.

The B in the distance keeping two healthy 911's and a Fezza behind (and the Tiv now way behind)

But no doubt of more interest to you: Under the glass-topped reception desk at the Hotel de France in La Chartre sur-le-Loir is a splendid collection of photos taken in period. Thought you'd lke this but sorry for the poor quality of pic.

PS I can tell you that the owner and one of the drivers of MGB no. 61 is 80 years old...

That was direct from the horses mouth. The lap that you refer to was after Daniel spun the car on oil at Arnage and lost about 30 seconds on one lap (see incident with Adrian Newey and his GT40). Daniel did say that he was having a good tussle with Barry Sidery-Smith and Jeremy Rogers in car 16 and managed to beat them during the pitstop/handover.
Daniel finished race 1 with 7 laps in 45:36.954 and Barry did 8 laps in 50:46.780..........
Daniel finished race 2 with 7 laps in 45:06.867 and Barry did 7 laps in 45:46.240..........
Daniel finished race 3 with 7 laps in 48:03.697 and Barry did 7 laps in 49:25.566..........
Total difference over the 3 races was 4.196 secs to Daniel in 20th and Barry in 21st place.
