A mate recently got a 987 Boxster S. His pride and joy until the emails started..

"Nice car, is it your girlfriend's..?"

or

"Nice car, my mum has one.."

or

"So you couldn't afford a 911 then..?"

or

"I didn't know hairdressers got paid that much..."

or my personal favourite...!

"So what does your boyfriend drive...?"

Totally unfair I know (had a Boxster S on loan once.. nice car), but still worth a giggle!!

Gayman.. like it!!

Actually the Cayman belongs to the wife.. even she thought a Boxster was too girly..!!

My 997 is about to be replaced in 7 months by a lovely 997TT courtesy of OPC Mayfair... Can't bloody wait.

Thanks nem...

In 7 months I'll be the proud owner of a new 997TT courtesy of OPC Mayfair... With the Cayman S that'll be about £170k of Porsche products...

Also not including the F355 sat in the garage (although quite old..)

So to answer your question: couldn't I afford an S version... Erm yes!

Just shows Boxster drivers can't take a joke..

Oh dear...

Not sure if I'm quite the richest person here. I'd guess not. Then again, I'm still under 30 so not doing too badly for myself.. Jealousy is a horrible thing nem.. you sound a bit bitter and twisted inside.

Making jokes about homosexuals?? That's your interpretation of the joke...if you think about it hard enough you might just get that..

YOu don't drive a Boxster..?? Well there's a surprise..!!

Like I said, its stupid as I bet he is a nice bloke.

I just get upset because I hand on heart prefer the 987S to a 911 (like the 2 seat speedster look) and want to get one in guards red with my bonus this year.

I know its stupid, but the whole "boxster is gay" thing is what is making me consider spending the extra and getting a 997S even though I don't like it as much (awesome car and only my opinion). It sounds stupid, but it would be aweful to spend £47k on a Boxster just to be the subject of ridicule.

I blame Clarkson ha ha ha.
Don't do it... If you like the Boxster, get one and what anyone else thinks. I love em (and yes, I went from a Boxster to 996 cab)

Damn right - hell, no matter what car you get, people will slate it... simply through ignorance, jealousy, or just the fact some people can only make themselves feel better by be-littling other peoples achievments and possesions.

Nem if you want a Red Boxster, get one. People have died for you to have that right.

An MGF owner told me last week I only had a 911 because I've got a small ck. I said to him "at least I've got one".

Our choice of cars should be purely personal.

Those whose choices are influenced by what others think have a seious problem.

Personally,

I'd prefer a Boxster'S' to a Cayman'S'

I'd prefer a 997 to a 997'S'

I'd prefer a 997 GT3 to a 997 TT

And, I'd prefer an AMV8 to a Ferrari. Actually, I'd prefer a Trabant to a Ferrari

The fact is that driving around in the base model of a high performance range is always going to make you look cheap.. like you'd rather drive a merc with absolutely no options just for the badge than a fully loaded toyota...

Same with the Boxster - cheapest set of Porsche wheels you can buy so expect people to take the piss...!! Especially cocky city boys like us that swap cars every 6 months for the hell of it..

As Mr. Clarkson once said about the Cayman S... nice car and you'll love it until the day you pull up next to a 997S at the lights... kinda like going to the urinals and standing next to a big black man.. (his words, not mine..)

Enjoy the Boxster ladies..!!
