Lazy Man's Dry Sump Oil Change

OK I need to do a quick oil change on my GTR but I am feeling lazy,

So I am going to do the following:

drop the plug from the dry sump tank
remove the rotary arm from the distributor to prevent the engine running
connect a big battery and run the starter and pump the remaining oil out !!

Can anyone see any problems

Yes the sump, albeit shallow and for the most part almost empty, will have an amount of sediment in it that you would do well to remove by draining when still warm.
As said you will also need to drain the tank.

Hi GMan,

I pop the belt off and hand spin the pump. That way I'm not spinning the engine without oil. It works pretty well, and is quite quick - the pump doesn't take much effort to spin.

I only have 3000 miles on the car, but coming up soon I'm going to do a more complete oil change, and I'll remove the pan to see what is down there, as well as pulling out the accusump and cleaning it again.

other way (if your feeling CBA and have plenty of oil about)

warm up engine, stop it, remove pipe back to the dry sump tank, and put in waste oil can (or bucket)

with new oil standing by, start engine, pour new oil into tank as it's running, stop engine when oil comming out is clean.
