Second Time Lucky!

Passed the SVA re-test this morning - yippee! Got back from Le Mans at midight and hooned it down to Southampton armed with Goodyear exemption docs, side screen data sheets, seat belt anchorage bolts test data et.etc.
The guys didn't even mention the emissions test - just ticked it off!!!
Spent the rest of the day queueing at the Wimbledon DVLA...couldn't stay awake!
Car off to the factory this weekend for the check over. Engine running much better now that GRL have set it up.
Just over two weeks to the Cannonball Run - wanna get some miles in before hand.

Nice to meet you on Wednesday Peter and well done on your SVA pass.I know it's early days yet but contrary to one of my previous posts,I am asking folk like yourself if you would be interested in a group tour to LeMans next year? I will be taking a support vehicle and recovery trailer and will be asking a small contribution from all who would like to be elligable for recovery if it should be required (God forbid),let me know,many thanks.

Good to meet you to Wayne. Thoroughly enjoyed Le Mans, and to answer your question Steve, it was Le Man which was to be the end date. It's 5 months to the day since the kit was delivered - so I missed my end date by around 2 weeks!!
Still, I'm looking forward to seeing what the factory say on Saturday. Dropping it off at 9am. Just put the radio in this evening - I'll just get a photo. Two ticks..........

Camera button is an overide switch for the rear camera which comes on when reverse is engaged. Just in case you didn't have time to see what you've just passed!!
Starter is next to steering wheel on RHS.
They don't do legends for interior lamp, fuel switch and camera, so somehow I've got to do them. Acid etch?

Find the makers name from the switch rather than the supplier. The maker will most likely be able to make a special. My start switch I spotted on a stand at an electronics exhibition but they did not do any of the car type legends. I convinced the sales rep. that there would be a market for them. He made me a free sample which arrived 2 weeks later. The ones you have there are so similar that they may even be the same manufacturer.

Well - the dash was quite time consuming. The layout was the longest thing to get right. Aesthetics and ergonomics an' all that.
Made a hardboard template of the dash and printed off 1:1 to get the ergos right in the living room!!
The main instruments work really well, looking at them in the normal manner through the steering wheel.
Just wanted a plain, functional dash, as OE looking as possible. I hope that's what I've got.

were you first few miles a bit err... clattery? I've done door shuts to fit but due to time, the constant gap and gel coat rework may have to wait.
Also damping, to try and keep my fillings intact, I screwed the adjustable damping right out - still feels as though I'm about to go circuit racing!! Any ideas??

I was very proud of my shut lines and clearances until I took to the roads for the first time! I was almost deafened by the squeaks and rattles. The worst one was from where the roll bar braces come through the rear bulkhead. I had to remove these a number of times and enlarge the holes. Mind you, the state of the roads in the south east does not help, which is also a contributing factor to the choppy (jarring!) ride. After six years on the road I now know where most of the local pot holes are! I'm afraid there is not enough travel in the suspension to cope with all possibilities, it's either going to bottom out if it's set too soft or shake you to pieces if it's set too stiff. I've got my Intrax dampers set on 5 clicks on the front and 10 clicks on the back.
Thanks for that Mike.......for a moment there I was wondering if it was just me. I'm getting chatter from the front clip and both doors. At least I now know where they touch!! When you say 5 and 10 clicks, is that from fully wound out, down or from fully wound in,up?? Does that make sence? I'm asuming fully anti-clockwise, or out is soft and fully clockwise is hard - tis that right?
I'm gonna be doing ferries and speed humps and goodness knows what sort of thing abroad so I have asked the factory to set me high and soft and change it when I get back.
Bit disapointed really as, the factory demo (the yellow one) rode like a dream - I hope the factory can work a miracle!!
Anyone else lost their chatter after the factory inspection?

I have found that we have a small batch (5 sets) of recent intrax dampers that have been valved incorrectly by intrax and I have checked our records and your set is one of those. They give a terrible ride quality as I found out during a test of a new factory built GTR last week when we identified this issue. Your GTR is the only running car affected by this. We will swap them for the correct versions during our inspection of your car next week. It will completely transform the ride.
Thanks factory, that'll be it then. I really look forward to a transformed ride!!
