Brake Servo Headache
Discussion
Hi there,
Firstly thanks to all the contributors to this and the superb website which was tonnes of help to me when I bought my little white ball of malice 3 weeks ago.
I now have my first conundrum and am hoping to ponce some knowledge from you guys. I did a search but it crashed my computer so I gave up.
I bought my s3 with 49k and a full service history and it had just been serviced (a main dealer but not tvr) including a brake overhaul. The guy I bought it from said that the brakes felt a bit weird since he got it back but was sure they would bed in and to be honest she was so clean I just wanted to get my hands on her!
Basically I got her home and there was a bit of copper grease on the discs.... That'll be it says I so I cleaned them and there was an improvement but it is still being outbraked by the Missus' renault 5.
Just took it to kwikfit for a check and the guy nearly put it through the back wall! The pedal is really stiff and has been since bought her but I thought that's a tvr thing in my ignorance as everything else needs brute force.
Apparently he reckons its something wrong with the servo. So I was wondering whether anyone had had anything like this before and if so is there anywhere good in kent / south east where I can get it fixed?
Also if there are any S's in this part of the world it would be good to hear from you.
Thanks and fingers crossed!

Thanks for the tip. I had a play around with it myself today. Plenty of suction and I put 2 fingers through the bottom of the servo so i guess it has had it!
Got into the search page on ph at last and there has been heaps on s1's and s2's but not a lot on the later s3's which as a late 1991 I think mine is.
In anycase the master cylinder is integral and is ford and so i think the servo will be a fwd ford like a festa or an escort. Definately not a sierra as i drive one every day and they don't match...... If it did it would already be on there
Although I've read that sometimes they put a ford master cylinder with a saab servo so that's a possible I guess. I only pray that the servo has not rusted through a part number otherwise I'll be in it. Of course this has to happen the week before a show when it was meant to be on display.
