The only (slightly off-topic) thing I'd say here is that older/higher mileage big saloons can empty your wallet faster than you'd believe. I've just spent nearly £2500 quid on my BMW 7 in the last few months... water pump, fuel pump, thermostat housing, propshaft coupling, two services, steering centre tie rod, and a bunch more besides. Now, I'm going through a main dealer, which is never cheap, but even scaled down to independant specialist prices, running costs will be a concern compared to a 318i.

It's not unusual for insurance companies to deny classic insurance to drivers under 25 but there are some out there. I'm with Osborne's for mine but i'm sure they're not the only ones. However, whilst i was under 25 i could find no-one to insure me for unlimited mileage, the best i could do was 7500 miles.

By the way, i'm nothing to do with Osborne's insurance, the name is a coincidence. I was with Hoddesdon Insurance last year but Osborne's came out cheaper this year. I've heard Adrian Flux are among the best. Just my 2p.
