Hundreds of jobs at the Blackpool-based sports car manufacturer TVR appear to have been saved after crisis talks with union leaders.
The Russian car company announced it is to remain in the Lancashire resort but intends to move to a new site.
Full details are not yet known but the Transport and General Workers Union (T&G) believe up to 300 positions could be saved.
The union will meet TVR bosses again in 10 days time.
Last month, the firm announced that the Bispham factory would close within the next six months.
Andy Robertson, T&G regional industrial organiser, said: "We're not out of the woods yet but this looks like positive news after a period of gloom."
Further meetings are planned.

s on the parade, but that report is clearly a press release from the T&G. All it means is that TVR have updated the Union on the current position.
In particular the BBC report says "The Russian car company announced it is to remain in the Lancashire resort but intends to move to a new site.". Leaving aside the phrase "Russian car company" it says no more than we already knew - i.e. that TVR would like to stay in Blackpool. It specifically does not say that TVR will stay there or that a new site has been found or arranged.
By all means have a bit of a party (after all the doom-mongers have done it for a couple of months thus-far), but don't for a minute consider this to be real news. After all, the first reports all those weeks ago were also a T&G press release and said that TVR was closing down with the loss of all jobs. We all know how much ck that was.

k that was.The stuff I saw a few weeks ago didn't say that at all. In fact, the only difference between the news then and now has been the intention to stay in Blackpool now. Great news, but it's never been as bad as some have been insisting.
And the FT (e.g. this morning) doesn't usually get it far wrong.
