Darren Manning in full time CART seat!
Discussion
From the Autosport website:
Darren Manning is excited about his debut season in ChampCar racing, having been officially announced as a driver for the Walker Racing team today (Thursday).
The British driver has been chasing a full-time drive in the American-based series since he finished ninth in a one-off appearance at last year's Rockingham 500 race. He replaces Roberto Gonzalez, whose deal with the team fell through last week. The team will run a second car, and will announce its driver on February 4.
"It's going to be great to have the opportunity to do a full season, especially with a team like Walker," said Manning. "I got a little taste of it last year and ever since then I've really wanted to get in the seat for a full season. I'm really looking forward to it."
Team boss Derrick Walker is excited by the prospect of running Manning in 2003. He said: "Darren has demonstrated his ability on many occasions during his career but we were extremely impressed with how easily he adapted to the ChampCars last season at Rockingham. We are very pleased to have him as part of our team and look forward to an exciting season in 2003."
Manning will make his first appearance for Walker at ChampCar's annual Spring Training test, which takes place at the Sebring
Great news!! I met him at a track day, and he was a very nice bloke.
I saw him at Rockingham and he drove brilliantly
And lets be honest. He's a bloody awful TV presenter!!!
I believe the expression is:
"Those who can't write about it, do it..."
Great news, and a brit to cheer at brands this year.
