I've got a funny creaking/grinding sound when 1st and 2nd engage at low speed. I've been told it's signalling a replacement gearbox (?). I was wondering i) if this is neccessary, and ii) what it could be?
Check your clutch slave cylinder before doing anything drastic Mine had similar problems getting into reverse and first (although not creaking!), no problems now I have a new cylinder fitted
