KIT CAR GOES TO100 AND BACK IN 9.4SECS

A BRITISH kit car has just become the fastest-accelerating and decelerating supercar of all time. For just £35,000, Ultima Sports are offering a build-it-yourself version of their GTR-720, which has just set a new world record for rocketing up to 100 and back to a standstill.
The Ultima took just 9.4 seconds to hit the ton and then brake down to zero.
Most impressively, its 0-60 sprint is a blistering 2.6 seconds, 0-100 comes up in 5.3 and braking from 100 to zero takes 3.6 seconds dead. And this astonishing record was achieved in a standard factory demonstrator model with no special modifications.
Powered by a 720 bhp Chevrolet V8 (hence the 720 monicker), the 200 mph GTR was fully street legal and even running on road tyres.
Amazingly, those spleen-splitting braking times were achieved without ABS or traction control.
No other supercar in history has matched this. Thanks to the Ultima's superlight power-to-weight ratio, its new world record is two seconds faster to 100 than the legendary £1 million McLaren F1 LM and £450,000 Ferrari Enzo. The record-breaking runs were overseen by the Guinness Book of Records, and the GTR was even driven to and from the test site on public roads.

The kit takes 300 hours to assemble and requires no specialist skills.
If you'd prefer a fully-built GTR, Ultima will charge you £84,000, but there's a 12-month waiting list. Unsurprisingly, the phone at Ultima Sports hasn't stopped ringing, and the tiny Leicestershire- based company is "amazed at the response".
And there we were thinking the British car industry was dead.

so just how easy or difficult can it be building one of these, how long does it take roughly? im no expert but consider myself quite capable when it comes to mechanical things, never built a car before though.

The usual journalistic licence on the costs though "just £35,000, Ultima Sports are offering a build-it-yourself version of their GTR-720, which has just set a new world record for rocketing up to 100 and back to a standstill." Errr... no. £84k for the factory build sounds more like it, expect little change from 60k for self build of the same spec I'd reckon.
