Can anyone tell me what fits in the fuel tank outlet sump. Is there a filter just before the outlet pipe and what fitting goes in the sump base? It looks like the same as a sender unit.

can you please confirm that it is just a blank? Is it worth taking off to clean it up as I get some low fuel probs whilst conering. When its below quarter it sometimes cuts out until I straight up.
Will cleaning it up help?

if you take it out you might find that there is some dirt sitting in there as it is the lowest part of the tank but be carefull the tags that hold on the blank easily break

I can confirm there is a small coarse filter in the sump which clips onto the outlet pipe. My car was doing exactly the same thing when cornering and then eventually started miss firing on normal running. You can access it through the six bolt flange at the bottom of the sump. Mine was hacky and required a good clean along with the rest of the sump as it was full of sludge. The car's been going like a train since although I'm sure it'll happen again as the tank is not getting any newer. I've no idea what the filter is from but I'd be looking at removing it and then putting an in-line one between the tank and the pump. (The Capri did not have a filter between the tank and pump at all !)

Hope this helps

If you put an inline filter before the pump, make sure it's a low restriction one otherwise you'll just knacker the pump - they're designed to blow, not suck iyswim.
