Big Ian and myself are taking our S's to Le Mans next week

We've been stocking up on some basic bits that may be needed in the event of a breakdown such as fan belt, bulbs, coolant, jump leads, fuses, beer etc etc. One thing that I cannot seem to find anywhere though is a spare throttle cable. TVR Car Parts do not have any and my local Ford dealer has discovered that Ford have stopped making them and they cannot find one anywhere.

So, does anyone know where we can get one from? Alternatively does anyone have a spare that they could lend us and, if it's unused, we could return it as soon as we get back?

Thanks in advance,
Longers

Thanks for the above.

When I spoke to TVR car parts yesterday they were looking for one themselves, I assume to use as a template for making replacements....?

Just phoned David Gerald & Bellhill. DG sold their last one last week and Bellhill said they haven't seen an S for over 18 months now, which in a way I suppose is good news cos it means that not many of these great cars have gone to the garage in the sky!

If you are really stuck I have one in the boot. I can "lend" it to you for your journey. Mine snapped on me a couple of years ago, called out the RAC, and they fixed the cable. The guy said it is advisable that you replace it but the repair will probalby last quite a while. I bought two from Harrogate Horseless Carriages (now Drivestyle H H C) fitted one and threw the other in the boot. Mail me if interested.

Steve, YHM

When I spoke to TVR car parts last week they were also looking for a throttle cable, I think so that they could use it as a master to make some replacements. It might be worth you offering to lend it to them?

Just tried Harrogate Horseless Carriages for the same thing. No Joy, say they haven't had any in for 3&1/2 years! Supply not looking too promising.

That's unusual as I bought mine from them in the last couple of years.

If you have the remains of the old cable, you could send it off to a company called Speedy Cables (www.speedycables.co.uk). They should be able to make you a new one...... I've used them in the past for a couple of cables on a kit car I built and they were very good......

Hope this helps,

does any one know whether the newer cables (2.9) came from the sierra or granada or both of them?
