Heads in a bit of a spin, car is booked in to Lancasters at Bishops Storford for the mods.

Spoke to the Service Manager who explained that the car will go by flatbed to the groups body shop which I think is in Cambridge group repair shop is certified Lotus, Ferrari and Porsche.

What do you think guys and gals....car will be away for one week.

Venom 500 I know who you feel it is frustration about any trips organised but if the 'Hardcore' are in then I would rather have you mottly crew to run with than most of the car guys I ever met......long live the Viper Family in the UK

Paul,

Bit unsure as to what to do with this recall. You have obviously succeeded in getting this done under warranty - was it a complicated process? Do you think everyone in the club should push to get this done or only if your car is affected?
I do hope to take the car on track days this year, so it might be worth getting the mods done anyway if I can under warrantly.
Would be interested in your views.
Graham

I'll hope things go smoothly for you Paul, the 998 recall looks like a fairly major amount of work.

Graham, from what I've read all Chrysler vipers shouldn't have a problem obtaining the recall from a dealership, warranty or not, although the dealerships will probably know nothing about it. It is a must job
that needs sorting, espicially if you intend to track the car

Phoned the garage yesterday car is still at the body shop, they have had five working days so far.

In fairness they have been given to the brooklands day on the 15th to sort the car and I am not pushing them as I want the job done right.

The old girl is having a service as well and there can't be much wrong as I have changed the pads for EBC reds on the front and green on the rear.....thanks to Joel.

Just love the Viper fitting the brakes is like an old version of the motor car just unclip the pins and out they come.

Looking forward to Brooklands Motor Sport Day next saturday.

Due to get car back tommorrow so Venom500 I will check it out on a ramp and then give you an opinion of the workmanship, but talking to them I have high hopes.

You need to dial 01279 654566 and speak to service.. Francis is the Manager.

finally got the GTS 999 recall moving, no letter arrived, but after half a dozen calls ended up with Tim at Chrysler UK customer services, who has put things in motion. Apparantly there is a dealership by Silverstone that has carried out a number of 998 recalls already, but can't confirm that myself.

Well Tom I have now had a good look and overall the car looks exactly the same as when it went in more metal on the front steering but the same.

Booked in for next week!GULP!,Decided to have it done by my own dealers afeter hearing about pauls problems(red spray paint found on tyre!!!),at least i can pop in each day and keep an eye on things!Best get it done before the NOS goes on as i don,t want to cause crackes and end up with a 999 recall being done instead.

What is a 999 recall?

998 - is steering and differential frame repair
cars produced during 1996-1999(March 1st)

999 - is steering only,
cars produced after March 1st 1999 up to 2001

Tom yours should be a 998 so both 'ends' will be done

Still chrysler have not contacted me about the recall, if someone could trace the shape of their recall parts and note the thickness of the steel used, I'd fabricate my own parts and do my own joelism recall, not letting chrysler (with a small c) anywhere near the Skunk !
