Emission Control Warning Light... Opinions..

Hello People...
I have noticed that this one has come up a couple of times in the past.
Just after some opinions really.
Today my Emission Control Light came on and stayed on.
By the way im driving a Boxster S
Whenever I can, I only use Optimax, but on my last fill I had too use normal unleaded.
This was all well and good until I filled the tank today again with optimax. I did slightly overfill the tank by mistake (not so it was overflowing but i could see the level of the fuel when i removed the pump). On starting the car the Light came on straight away.
This is the first time that the light has come on in my 2 year ownership. My first thought was that it could of been something to do with overfilling or the mixing of fuel types, but I have done this before without any problems.
I had to drive back to london from wiltshire (100 miles). There was no evidence of smoke/loss of power/more than normal fuel consumption. Everything seems fine and the car is ticking over perfectly. The light comes back on when the engine is restarted though.
Just to be safe I am going to book it in to get looked at, but just wondered if any of you have experienced the same thing.

No doubt someone with more up to date info will come along to put you straight, but on the basis of my experience with my 993 this "emissions" light can be reset by disconnecting the battery briefly (20 seconds for mine). If it then comes on again immediately then maybe you do have a problem with your emission sensors or elsewhere - professional help needed.
One thing to note on a Boxster - if you disconnect the battery then don't shut the bonnet until it's connected again!

it just needs plugging into any code reader and see whats gone on ...
maybe just a coincidence about the fuel.
it may of come on then because some faults will only trigger the warning lights after so many ignition on/off cycles so maybe you reached that at the fuel station ? only a code reader will tell you.
