Had a brief encounter with a Silver AC Cobra on the A10 between Buntingford & Hertford this afternoon. Anyone on Pistonheads ?

Whilst the 550 eat it for breakfast, the sound of the beast was absolutely wonderful and the flames from the side pipes awesome. I could see them in my mirrors the next time he backed off at about a 1/4 mile distance behind - very impressive

Manu & Ajay - Is it technically possible to get my car to do this ? If yes what needs doing ?

Mark

I've seen an F40 with flames coming out of the back with delightful frequency.

Guys, can the same be achieved on the 550/575?

Don't tell me, let me guess what Manu/Ajay will say:
1) Yes you can get flames
2) It will involve modifications to your exhaust system
3) Those modifications will involve, in the main, discarding the original parts which are replaced by straight stainless steel pipes
4) The resulting emanations from your exhaust will match those of satan's bottom in their volume and pyrotechnic quality.

I hope you're correct Kev.

I know they can do the "noise" thing, just curious if they can do the flames bit as well/instead.

I have been in touch with them today and apparantly it is possible to get flames, and yes it does involve throwing everything away and replacing with a couple of steel pipes

I'm just in the process of assessing my options but hopefully I should have a flame thrower soon

Hey Daz - I got your email mate! Erm...... unfortunately Kev has pretty much summed it up - are we really that predictable?

Did I ever tell anyone that I have a VENGEFUL HATRED against Catalytic converters?

David Yu who writes about his 355 spyder in Evo has shown pics of that with flames from the tubi - not sure what else has had done to it, but I have chatted to him a few times on Evo and he may be popping down on Sunday.

In a word- YES! Plus I recall seeing the video of Doms porker spitting flames, and your reaction to it caught on camera (actually, on the video it was more of a 'phut'- you probably had to be there ). As well, IIRC Ferrari overfuel the engine. Probably more of a feat to get flames from a front engined beast but no doubt possible. Anyway if all else fails you could buy that kit from Halfords involving a fuel reservoir and spark plug wired to the exhaust... 'yes, I'll take four please..'
