I'm going to go for Gronholm again. 206 is proven on every suface and Marcus is the best driver in the team. Citroens go well on tarmac but I'm not sure about the gravel rallies. Going to Finland in August 
and will definately be supporting McRae but I don't think he will be champion.
and will definately be supporting McRae but I don't think he will be champion.I reckon McRea is in with a shout, he seems very relaxed (must be the fat pay cheque)and the car is undoubtably quick. I think he will take the softly softly catchy monkey approach unlike Solberg who wants to win the championship on SS4 of the 1st round.....and ends up in a bridge. Subaru like to hire up and coming drivers who chuck the car into the scenery at every opportunity, as soon as they mature and settle down to some steady drives they lose them. Perhaps they are performing on road NCAP tests!!!!

I really think Mcrae is on a mission this year. He seems very focused and pacing himself better in the new car and not his old style of "all out, oops I've crashed". But monti is a bit of a lottery, the gravel stages should give a better indication. Still should be an exciting season.

Cant really understand why Mcrae gets such great support from the clubman. Hes an arrogant twat (not saying he cant drive and get results) just he thinks clubman are second class citizens who just get in the way. Im sure he only signs autographs because its in his contract. He treats people like shit.
marcus gronhlom. easily the most complete rally driver out there since the likes of Ari Vatenen and Hannu Mikola. Gronholm can easily get top five times without the urgency of McRae (who is vastly over-rated IMO). Gronholm is consistent, rarely finishes a rally early through driver error and he's scandanavian!!!

Just a little harsh!! i've met the guy twice and he's been great both times. As for treating clubmen poorly?? Is that why he sponsors a round of the SRC and drives the course car?? ALL rally drivers are down to earth guys. Maybe you are mixing up McRae with McSchumacher??

My pick is Gronholm and Peugeot. As was said earlier, Citroen is quick on tarmac but is kind of unknown on gravel. Their car is strong as proved by the 2nd on the Safari last year, so they should go well on the Acropolis and Cyprus, but as for the smoother gravel I dont know.
I disagree with the comments about McRae. I've been a autograph hunting speccie on 2 WRC rounds and Colin seemed a right normal bloke when I when after his autograph. I'd have to said Solberg is my fave drivers though, real character.

Met Ari Vatenan and Timo Salonen and they were both great charicters.
I've only met Bjorn Waldegard out of the older generation of rally drivers.
I'd love to meet Vatanen, Blomqvist and Mouton.
I still think Makinen and Hakkinen need a personality transplant. Guess it's the language barrier. Although the other nationalities certainly show their personalites esp the French (ie Panizzi, Delecour, Loeb)

perhaps Francois Delecour shows his a little too intematly sometimes
Will be interesting to see how the Citreon competes on snow/ice, and gravel/mud. If it's on Pug pace then either Leob or McRae are worth a bet (Also need to know if Leob can prove he can drive those surfaces).

I "met" McRae last year at Rockingham.
Although he only posed for a photo, he was really nice, and didnt't think it at all strange that a grown man would want his photo taken with him.
And in the race he was spectacular, although he should have waited until AFTER the green flag before nudging the car in front!!!

WRC Question......
A mate of mine is sure that he has read or heard somewhere that 2 new teams will be entering WRC, possible in 2004.
I know that Mitsubishi are having a year off and will be making a come back so I thought they might be considered a 'new' team?
However who would the other team be? I have a theory that VAG might run Golfs or S3s/S4s or Seat Cupras? Any ideas? Yes, I know The Octavias are VAG as well but Skoda have been rallying for years before VAG got em.

The car Ford are currently running is their car from last year. This is because they are developing an all singing all dancing "revolutionary" new car, in the Ferrari F2002 mould. This however isn't going to be used until April. So I'm going to stick my neck out and say that if they get it right and Markko Martin picks up a few points in the next few races he might just be in with a shout. I also reckon that the Citroen will struggle away from asphalt, particularly on gravel.

I havent heard anything on that front. Could be one of the S1600 manufacturers, ie Renault, Opel, Suzuki, MG.
Dunno, personally I'd love to see the return of Audi. Get good old straight 5 howl going again!
