TVR is on the tilt in today's weekly print technical feature page's company/product news.
It basically says they will move away from Blackpool within the next six months officially because of high salary costs. But inofficially (according to not nearer specified sources from the industry) it is because of inappropriate model politics and lack of LHD versions for export. The production was three units per month lately.
First, I was surprised to read about TVR in a German newspaper. Morgan, for example, is much more relevant for the German market, because they are available in LHD. I was surprised that the editor even knew that TVR changed owners.
This notice about TVR has exactly the same information stage that the Pistonheads forums had weeks ago after that thread opened by an employee and before TVR's official press announcement. I dare to assume that the editor picked this notice from an international news service without obvious further research.
Even if he visited tvr.co.uk's announcement section, he ignored the announcement from 25 April 2006 that says it's all due to to the venue and its lease conditions (which are held by an entrepreneur that is no longer the advocate of the marque and the employees IIRC).
I don't blame the journalist alone. I don't think that he was after sensationalist or bad news; this doesn't fit in a section on the last page where are normally only small company news releases. It is located beside "Mazda releases new biological plastics" and "Michelin releases new tyre in 400km/h-category", btw. It looks more like he was looking for a notice to fill a gap, and he was pulling that notice about TVR; opposed to having had notices pushed by Mazda's and Michelin's PublicRelation-agencies that are actively placed for the benefit of the company.
Same with the recent renaming of the Blackpool company. They allow enough time for the development of rumors that harm the company, before they step in with an announcement.
Isn't it time now for TVR to get professional advice in public relation affairs, just like all other companies with a positive media feedback??
