I heard today that TVR is now called Blackpool Automotive or (BA). A contact of mine who deals with TVR checked with companies house and apparently this change was made on the 24th May. This could mean that the Russian plans to fold the current set-up, but wanted to keep the brand seperate.

Why on earth...?

Trademarks database is closed currently. Would be interesting to see which company has the trademarks registered to it.

I just love the government's automated systems that aren't available outside office hours.

I've heard of Blackpool Automotive recently - probably a report on here or a link from here.

So I guess he holds the right to the name TVR...but folds TVR manufacturing and up sticks and moves. Then makes TVR's elsewhere cheaper ?

Mmmmm. Wonder if they'll be keeping the TVR brand intact? An intriguing (and somewhat baffling) move .

There's something screwy with these Companies House links. PetrolTed's was correct, now it comes up as TVR LIMITED which appears to be an unrelated company. And when I click on tvrgit's, which has previously come up as BLACKPOOL AUTOMOTIVE LIMITED, *and* TVR LIMITED (same as PetrolTed's) I now get CENTURY (MINT) LIMITED.

Why the hell would he pick "Blackpool Automotive" if he's about to take it all elsewhere?

Erm, because that's where TVR assemble the cars, not make the parts?
Rubbish. The company could be called TVR Engineering and still do that. The new name suggests a stronger link to Blackpool if anything.

So this basically means the cars will no longer be branded as TVR, then?

If they're planning to divorce the operations in Blackpool from the overall business, it would make sense that the bit to be left in Blackpool (or shut down, if that's where they're heading) is named accordingly. Have they created a separate company to own the TVR brand?
