LeMans...anyone taking their S?
Discussion
This has probably been covered in previous threads, but I have just been offered a ticket for LeMans and am thinking about taking the S2. Has anyone done this?
It is a long way, and I am not sure if she would make it there and back!
Is anyone going?

Yes, several times with no problems (except the time I lost my keys).

Not this year.

Beat me to it, I was going to post the same thread. I'm going in my S3 and I don't expect any trouble. It's going in for a service and I'll ask them to check it over before the trip and I've got continental breakdown cover just in case. IIRC it's about 4 hours from Calais and Michelin tells me it's 424 km. I did it a few years ago in a Mazda MX-5 with 100k miles on the clock, a well-maintained S should eat it.
I was wondering who else on here is going and whether we want to meet for a mini S-Club Heaven or un Hoon Francais?

Did it a couple of years ago. Fantastic.
You'll be fine in the S. I always take out european breakdown but would do that with any car not just the S.
Go on Chris, go for it, I can assure you, you won't regret it.
I have always gone Portsmouth - Cherbourg. Its a great run down taking about 3hrs (tops)

I wouldn't worry about it as long as your S is in good mechanical nick.
over the last few months i've been doing almost weekly journeys of 600 miles in my S3c and it just eats them up. I just sit at 80odd and turn the stereo up and relax
I'd like to meet up with any other S people at Le Mans. Unfortunately, mine will be back home becuase I'm passengering in a convoy of Ferr.... Sorry, can't bring myself to say the word! Would rather be driving my S!
Can be contacted by mobile over the LM weekend if anybody wants to let me know where you are...

I shall be taking the S3 to Le Mans..... Camping in Maison Blanche, should be arriving early afternoon Thursday. Come and find us for a beer !! Lokk for the S3, a Porsche 914, Lotus Elise, Ford Cougar (!) and a Beemer 328.....
IanM
Ian,
Which route are you taking to Le Mans? As Big Ian has said we're going Portsmouth - Caen, arriving early Thurs pm so will be at Maison Blanche in time for tea!
Just realised, out of the S's going 3 of them are owned by Ian's.....
Anyone here going to the PH meet at Arnage Friday morning? We could meet somewhere first and arrive in style in convoy.
Am also thinking of a drive approx 20 miles south of the circuit for a village lunch on Friday before heading back for the TVRCC coach into town for the evening. Anyone else interested?
Longers
Taken mine the last three years and never had a problem, but would second the idea that you have european breakdown cover though. Sadly I'm not going this year and will really miss the drive down. I've tended to go out on a westerly sweep from St Malo or Cherbourg taking a less obvious route and never had an issue with the plod, no matter what 'pace' I've used

. Longers,
Our route down to LeMans will consist of as much of the N138 as we can possibly manage. We are also sailing from Portsmouth on the Thursday. The N138 is a terrific road with some awesome scenery, great lunch stops, plenty of fuel stops and some very quick sections. Once I have precise ferry times and better details of our route I shall post some info'. Sorry to be vague but I don't have my tickets to hand at the moment....It would be good to meet on the way down for a bit of a blast.....!!
Cheers
