We need the factory to get Top Gear to put the GTR640 demonstrator that set the records around there track to see what the stig can do with it. I know it would be up near the top of the list, if not at the top. Doesnt the factory have the same confidance in this as we do? I cant see why Top Gear would not be intrested.

How about Car and Driver or Road and Track or some car magazine. They just did some tuner shootout with a 1200hp viper and twin turbo C6 among others going up against the new Z06. I want to see an Ultima with top spec engine up against the best supercars out there. I can't think of a single car you can buy from a manufacturer that could take it. So lets prove it.

Stay tuned.....these would silence the critics.

From the factory website:

2006

Ultima GTR720 launch?

New 0-100mph-0 world record attempt?

Lap record attempt?

a GTR720 would be pretty insane.

But I really want to see head to head comparisons of the Ultima vs. high end supercars like an F430, Enzo, 911TT, Lambo, ect... Anything costing as much or more than the Ultima in top trim. Maybe throw a new Z06 in the mix to compare that with it's "low cost".

With the lightweight, track insipred chasis and suspension, and 640 - 720 V8 horses how can it loose?

Come on boys move away from the drag racing and step up and give them a car to test around a track.
Go on the factory!

screw drag racing, I am talking about track laps.

as well as all other concevable performance bench mark, so I guess 1/4 mile could be in there but I really want to know how it performs around the same track with the same driver against the best supercars out there.

And I dont want anything but performance, and fun to drive factor to count for the win.

Is it just me or is all this talk of Ultimas not living up to "standards" getting old?
Snooze........

My only complaint is not being able to keep up with cars on slicks through the corners. I pretty much dust everything down the straights and I'm just driving the car in 4th gear around the track!

I think the only thing I'd do differently to the car is set it up to run slicks...which is what I'm working on.
Cheers!

Dont get me wrong, I believe that they can live up to any ones standards. Thats why I want to see it happen.

How does handeling compare to say a F430, 911TT, Lotus, ect...

I got a reply from Richard at the Factory just the other day on this and this was his reply....

"We don't have any updates on Top Gear at this time. We are very busy with very high demand for our products, so aren't actively pushing this at present."

Sounds like we need to help the Factory out here. How about we club together and take this task off his hands and get Jeremy Clarkson and The Stig to take up the challenge?

They won't be interested, the car is not mainstream enough and TG success can be largely attributed to viewer identification. As has been stipulated on PH recently, only hardcore car fanatics have heard or know of the Ultima and a large part of the interest in cars like Porsche,Ferrari,Lambo.ect. is born out of romanticism and folk dreaming of ownership from an early age.You must accept it is only we few that may welcome the worlds realisation of our supercars.

I happen to have a Can-Am rolling chassis that is in customs right now. I have an American speed 406 ci 720 hp engine at the shop waiting....... It dino'ed at 723.8 peak hp.

I also have a 2006 Ford GT that is getting the GTX1 (convertible) conversion done with a few more horses...hehe...When done it should be close to 700.

I plan on using both cars for some magazines. I have the blessing from both Ultima and Gennadi (the guys that do the conversion) to show off the cars in any publications. I have a few leads on this but I would really appreciate anyones help if they have a in with any of the mags in the states.

My guess is that both cars will perform well. I just recently got back form a day at sebring with the GT and everyone there was impressed with its performance. "A few more horses and some slicks would blow the doors off any GT3 cup car" was a quote of a guy testing his 996 GT3 cup car for an upcoming race.

Richard has my car pictured on their web sight under "USA" then "Rolling Chassis". If you look closely you can see the 720 decal. The factory has a Can-Am 720 on the road right now for a customer and Richard's words were "the car is very fast".

Hopefully I will have some success getting both cars in print, but any help would be appreciated.

A koniegsegg at £450k is less mainstream than an ultima and they had a big feature the other week....plus did they featured a radical?

Wait till you drive the Ultima around the track! I rode in a 2006 Ford GT at Texas World Speedway and the Ultima feels like a Ford GT on steroids!
Cheers!

Although, unattainable to most, the K'egg is still a 'mainstream' car (admitedly a rare sight on the street and unavailable as a kit as far as I am aware). The Radical episode I feel was more a novelty topic just to give a little insight into what is going on/available at certain extremes of British car building and to profile an Ultima is likely to be seen as high lighting this niche market uneccesarily and only has a novelty value for a specific part of the viewing audience.
