Stop laughing! I've been away for ages with one thing and another, so nice to be back. One of the ongoing projects at home now is biodiesel, and I was wondering if any of you guys and girls have heard of any other nutters who have fitted diesel engines into minis? Think 50-60 miles per gallon at £1.50 a gallon... Many thanks!

I read somewhere that the diahatsu (is that how you spell it?) 3 pot diesel fits.
Also, I may be wrong but I thought that many moons ago BMC made an A series diesel for a small tractor-- 950cc?
All the above may of course be total rubbish as my memory often plays tricks!

Think methanol. About 15p/L and not a diesel engine. Do a methanol search on ebay.

I've got a methanol supply for making my diesel (£60 ish for 200 litres - but that makes 1000 litres of biodiesel) - do you mean run the car on methanol?

BMC did a diesel version of the A series for use on small tractors IIRC. Think it's on www.austin-rover.co.uk ?

23bhp or so might not be enough though.....

The A series tractor (BMC mini) was 15hp if memory serves, used to have one. Then upgraded to the new Nuffield 4/25 with the B series block and 25hp. I have seen a mini pickup with one of these motors, A series I think. It was not too slow, Good torque.
