I've just fitted a new throttle pot on the 2.9 v6, and as my last post it ran great when I trial fitted it.yesterday I got time to fit it properly and tightened up fully the 2 screws which secure it,this instantly gave me a problem with the tickover again not faultering as it was before but now sticking at about 2-3000 rpm,I removed the pot again and fitted a small rubber O'Ring around the locating face and an o'ring around each of the 2 screws, this has cured the problem fully. It is apparent that the spindle is a bit too long for the depth of the pot recess and when tightened it must either cause the pot to fowl internally or more likely have intermittent contact with the track and hence give false readings to the ECU.At some point in the future I may remove it again and take 1-2mm off the end of the shaft, which should have the same effect.Be aware if you fit a new one.
