I would be half tempted...

C'mon guys, this has to be a contender!

Bargain of the year in bhp per pound... and it's Italian. Kind of.

There's a chap in the Sporting Bears who has one of these and it's one hell of a car! The ground shakes when he rumbles past. No idea what they're like to drive but they're not easy to ignore. Tempted yourself Dom? Somewhat different philosophy to the cars I usually associate with you.....

I bloody love these cars and would be tempted, but this isn't a true GT 5 and the wheel arches front and rear haven't been done very accurately, but well worth the money for 600 bhp

Seconded to apache's comment. Not a GT5 but well worth £20K.

They are relatively easy to drive, the Cleveland lump gives plenty of torque. Performance wise a standard GT5 was Ferrari Daytona performance with American engine reliability. A much under-rated car.

Hi Kev

Only half tempted, I have to say. The interior is a bit 'cornflakes packet trimmed in leather' and it's not really a looker. As you imply, it is a bit too heavy for my liking, as well.

Therefore, I am sticking with my original plans (BMW E36 V8 as everyday transport, Ultima GTR as weekend fun).

That said, 600bhp for 20k must be the performance bargain of the new millennium. The Ultima will cost at least twice that.

Hope you're enjoying the Porsche.

To get 600bhp put another 10-15k on the price of the Ultima

At that price surely it's almost worth buying as a basis for an Ultima Kit.

Yeah, Guy, I quite agree. I was thinking that 450 in an Ultima would equate to 600 in a Pantera, simply because of power to weight.

My Pop had a Pantera GTS he bought as a bit of fun when I was about 10 years old.
How cool was it being picked up from school in that, and you got sheets of flames out the carbs just behind your head when it started up.
Now I think about it I'm not sure it should have done that, but I loved it at the time!

I'll say. What a brilliant little car this is! I've never really 'got' 911s but I'm beginning to see what all the fuss is about. Incredibly competent and the grip is just immense. Low COG gives these lovely buttery slides when the back steps out and it's quite the best car over yumps I've ever been in- you don't need to lift at all. It's quite fast too. Manu's ordered some Techart Racing pipes for me; the only problem is finding time to fit them. Fan!

LOL, nah, Guy won't be going for the Red Baron. That is likely to go to my Porsche tech to be turned into a track monster.

Guy will be replacing the breadvan, so he will get a 996 at a guess. Although for full breadvan effect he really needs a Cayenne

The badgers are doing well, thank you Guy

I stumbled across modena cars by accident the other day - in the very industrial and not very posh cressex industrial estate. Had an Orange Diablo in the window, but no fancy marble floor and chrome uplighters!!!

Still, lambo garage in high wycombe can't be bad. Although judging by the number of Ultimas we should have in the area soon, an Ultima parts distribution centre closer than Hinckley would be handy

Cheers
