So what are the best tyres for 10s. Ive mainly used dunlops because the last a fair few miles, but theyre not that easy to get hold of, but now i'm after more grip. So what are opinions of the following?

Yoko A008
Yoko AO32
Falkens
Avon CR6ZZ

Ive tried A008s, but found they didnt last too long, not helped with the tracking being out and they were terrible in the wet. The Avons are supposed to be nearly as quick as slicks but at £100 a corner, a bit pricey.

Yokos are arguably the best, although I haven't tried the Avons (too expensive). Then032 is really a motor sport tyre though.
I an currently on Falkens and my times are as good on them as on A008's. Wear rate is about the same, but at around £23 per cover they are definbately the best overall value. They are also better on mixed surfaces than 008's due to the better tread pattern.
Pay your money and take your choice, I guess,

one word.

avons.

try them and you will never use another 10" tyre!

i wouldnt use them on a road car - bit to posh, but for racing or fancy track day they are great.

the side walls are very stiff and the tyres are very grippy - they also last for ages. on my race car 32rs will do one, maybe two races, avons will do a whole season. (8 races)

100 a corner is pant pulling down price. bmtr do them for about 80 quid a corner.

I must say that 032R's are bloody sticky, 008 strikes me as bad compromise. Either go sticky or go long life. Haven't tried Dunlops but Vintage Tyre Supplies in Beaulieu still make them. £68 a shot. My favourite mini tyre is a Kelly Springfield KR-5 which are getting rare now but they do crop up. Nice square shoulder and stiff sidewalls. I'm running Camac 165's at the moment which are great for mucking about in the summer, they have a big diameter (about 1.25" over a falken) and when they get hot, they aren't too bad.

I'm going to try some 185 trailer tyres next, bias belted 4 ply walls with nice sticky tread. They are high speed rated as well. I do prefer crossplies but getting road legal ones is getting a bit tricky. Can't run 145's anymore as the thing just eats them.

If I had to go into a shop, I'd buy 032R's as they are the best, Falkens are good but a tad under diameter and with my FD, I need all that I can get! 008's are ok, but I would wait until I had the cash for 032's. VTS dunlops are too expensive by a mile.

Trailer tyres look to be the way to go. (not golf cart tyres of heavy load trailer tyres). Can't remember who makes them.

my experience has been mixed and it might be down to mixing tyres front to rear... but i have found yoko A-008's to be always very grippy but also extremely soft - i think i've probably done about 2.5k in three months and they are down to about 1mm from illegal. The Falkens i've had always seem far less grippy then the yokos and in the wet are just plain dangerous although they have a much better wear rate. 032's are too expensive for me, as are avons... I thoguht the Camacs were a budget tyre and i generally hear the word budget and from experience think 'unwearably hard with very little grip in the dry and even less in the wet' althoguh at the moemnt i may have to resort to them or driving around with illegal tyres (not such a good idea)...

interesting to hear what other people have to say though
