Wheel nut torque?

I've just acquired a set of shinynuts and decided I should make the effort and torque them up correctly but I can't find anything in the Bible. I have five stud spiders and I have assumed a wheel nut torque of 50 - 75 ft/lbs like Ford that use that hub unit. Is this torque range OK or is there something more specific for five stud spiders?

I use 108Nm on my 18" 5 Stud Spiders, with Shinny Nuts. Hope this helps.

I always use 70 ft/lbs. Not fallen off for a while.

Jeremy Smith usually has a label on the back of the Shinnynuts box...80 lb.ft or 108 Nm...10% extra if using a socket extension.

Many thanks for your help. The factory (info I got from Neill Anderson some time back) says that the factory standard nut should be 55ft/lbs. I know there's a lot of leeway for wheel nuts but it does appear from your replies that the stainless steel 'shiny' nuts need to be tighter.

I had the same problem yesterday and spoke to someone at the factory service department and was told 74 lB all round.

Means you won't be nicking mine lick you suggested at PF I always do mine to 75lb/ft or 100Nm as recommended by 2 different servicing organisations about 300 miles apart.

Long story - one fell of the TR once after ordering some special light weight new nuts - looked to be the same as std thread and the socket fitted them as well tighten them up and went to get some petrol - pull out of service station and the front right one falls off! and flys ahead of the car - not damage as the thing is so low and just slide along for 100m of so on the huge chassis rails - even the disc was fine.

Got Volvo and the original nuts and jack an all sorted in 1/2 hours and then called the nut seller and BOLLOCKed him!
