Fibre Glass Repairs

Hello All,

Due to various bits of dodgy reversing down my stupidly narrow driveway both rear wheel arches have been grazed over the last 6 months or so. One is scratched losing paint and fibre glass to a depth of about .5 to 1mm the other nearer 1.5 mm.

So I need to spend some time sorting it out. Can I use standard bodywork filler for this or should I be using something else ?

And then I need to get a colour match on the White paint ? Any idea what the best way of doing this is ?

If its just scratched or gouged and not cracked then any polyester based resin filler would be OK.

Luckilly it is as you say, scratches and gouges. Okay - polyester resin it is.

Any thoughts on colour matching ? How on earth does one do this ? Dulux ?

drive the car to a good body shop for colour matching - if they can't get a paint code off it they can get pretty close with paint chips (little coulered squares with holes in) since yours is white - then once you have the codes find some where that makes up rattle cans or get 1/2 litre and paint the arches with an airbrush
to be honest though it would be simpler and better to give the car to a decent body shop and let them do all the repair - you need quite a lot of skill to blend in paint .....

My local Halfords can mix paint to colour codes, either in aerosols or touch up pots. You should be able to get the paint code off the chassis plate.

Dumb question - but by the chassis plate do you mean the thing in the engine bay with (amongst other things) the engine number on it ?
