Speedo and water temp gauge dont work

neither the speedo or water temp guage work. They both light up when the lights are on and the LED turns on on the speedo but doesnt record milage. I tried touching the water temp sender wire to ground and the guage didnt budge. All fuses are good. I checked behind the dash and they both seem to be pluged in. Any ideas?

i figured out the water guage wasnt getting power and i think the speedo sender might just have needed to be lowered a little bit. I havent tested it out yet but when i tap the sender wires together i can see the speedo move a tad. I moved the sender lower but it isnt quite centered. the little nubs still pass under it, just not RIGHT through the middle

The position and distance are quite critical. Even when it starts working you may find it erratic or reading incorrectly until you get it just right.
