rant about warranty repairs
Discussion
My Tamora was bought through Silverstone TVR. However, since their demise it's proven difficult to find another main dealer who is willing to help out with warranty repairs. If I could I would go to Silverstone Performance (formerly Silverstone TVR and they are brilliant!), but why should I pay for warranty repairs? It's a frustrating situation to be in.
Are there any others in similar positions that have had better luck? Some of the warranty items that are becoming urgent and I would like them sorted sooner than later.

I found other dealers very unkeen to look at my car too. As I'm sure you're aware its primarily down to the pittance TVR pay them for any work done (if at all). If the repairs are minor then you'd expect a local dealer to be keen to win your future business.
How about one of the dealers who didn't exist when Silvertone were a main dealer, but are a main dealer now (I'm thinking Henley, David Gerald, London TVR). I'd have thought some of them might be keen for more customers.
For this reason, I had the AA take my failed headgasketed beastie to the original dealer even though there are 4-5 other dealers physically closer to me. (My main dealer have been great about everything BTW, but again I wouldn't expect them to be too welcoming to a pile of non-sold warranty work).
Isnt there some kind of law on this saying the main dealers have to take a look? However, as you know - forcing them to do so will not result in timely repairs at best.

Let me put it from another perspective. Would you fill your workshops with paying customers or warranty work at 40% of the workshop rate?
TVR do not pay the full whack so you can understand why there is a certain reluctance. I would suggest you ask TVR to find you a dealer.

They did and that dealer no longer seems interested.
As a customer I don't car about who pays who what. I have a new car with a warranty with items that are covered under this warranty. Any official TVR dealer/service centre should do the work. Don't give the customer grief because of your internal processes. The customer should never have to deal with the dealer/manufacturer issues.

TBH, if that's the attitude shown by TVR across the board to their exsisting customers, why would people want to buy the cars in the first instance?

I'm a longer term customer with a variety of TVRs over the years. Until recently I would have never imagined not owning a TVR. However, the recent (negative) change in customer service is proving very taxing and my next car may not be TVR. If TVR can turn around their customer service then there will be no doubt that my next car will be another TVR, but the current path they're walking does not work for this customer.

I would give Richard Payne a call (01491 4111770 at Henley TVR, great bunch down there with a cracking workshop and an engine shop too.
I'm not making excuses for dealers as my experiences so far have been P*** poor, but I think the root of the problem is TVR.
It's a bit like me selling a poorly developed product and then getting my distributors to pick up the flak and fix the faults rather than let them get on with their part of the deal, which is marketing/selling and servicing. (Oh that would be TVR then!!!)
To be fair this is not just TVR, i know BMW do the same and I am sure it is common, it's just TVR seem to have probably more faults per car sold and therefore dealers are understandably reluctant to do the job TVR should have done in the first place. Think I would be the same in their position.
TVR's support of customers stinks! I have owned three and love em, but unless parts supply and support to dealers improves significantly it will most definitely be the last. I am not alone!!
