Oil Leak on Rover V8

Shortly after my last service (although not straight away) I noticed a
smallish pool of engine oil in my garage. I put some fresh newspaper
down to check how much of a leak I had, in the last week or so the new
pool is about 3-4 inches in diameter. It had never leaked before.

It's not too major but I want to get it looked at. I normally take
it to Offords near Cambridge (who are very good) but with now living
in Nottingham a drive all the way down there seems excessive.

Is there anywhere/anyone in or near Notts that has some Rover V8
knowledge I could take it to?

I've tried James Agger but he's not around until next week.

Check the sump plug. They seem to perish if I recall correctly.

Might be the problem and costs next to nothing to put right.

I'm sorry, we don't discuss technical issues on these forums anymore. Only wild speculation about the future of TVR, who's to blame and what can be done in the future. To really keep up with the kids, you ought to discuss the relative merits of China and Wales as potential bases for production.

(If that's the bit I'm thinking of). A bit of silicon sealant is all that's required if memory serves.

Could be worth checking that the oil filter is on ok, they can work loose but it's unusual..

Even easier... note where the oil is coming from - under the oil filter or under the sump.

TVR vermently deny the existance of any oil leak and also refuse to discuss whether a move to Saudi Arabia is on the cards.

Mine leaks too, I just think of it as chassis protection as you drive!

Yeah but I had one like that before and I want to go back to
having one that doesn't ever lose a drop, otherwise I'm going to
get rid of it and buy a Boxster!

Heard teh sump plug one before or maybe just a sump gasket is leaking? If there it some oil about I would be worried.
