In my entire life, I don't think I have ever read such a torrent of naive and ill informed bilge.
Admittedly, piercing this flat and desolate landscape of the lowest common denominator, golden shafts of intelligent and reasoned comment have bravely fought against this seemingly relentless onslaught of opinionated nonsense.
I speak of course about the sad TVR news.
It started with a disgruntled TVR employee whose potentially/probable libellous comments (I didn’t manage to read it before censorship) predicted looming lay offs and at the same time rounded on the management in a less than tactful manner.
The email was met with considerable disbelief and opprobrium both against the author and PistonHeads themselves for deleting the thread.
But of course, a week or so after the post, the predictions were proved correct.
Subsequently there have been 100s of threads posted. From memory, I would like to pick out my selection of the more moronic postings.
1 – TVR would benefit from a recession as rich people would then be more likely to buy expensive cars with bad residuals (like TVR) because it would not be worth these “rich” people leaving their cash in high yielding equities etc etc…….
2 – The original poster has committed no “crime” (in posting his libellous comments….oh dear) and someone must have ordered Piston Heads to delete his post (clearly ignorant of the necessity of self censorship by web site owners)
3 – The new TVR owner is a wealthy individual and should bear the brunt of the losses until things recover.
4 - America has less freedom of speech that the UK.
There have been many more of equal stupidity and it seems that I can never fail to be amazed at the idiocy that festers in such large tranches of our nation’s population.
No wonder Bliar got in for the 3rd term.

While I don't disagree with the rest of your post, surely this is a correct statement?
Do you think people in America can use the word "Taliban" (which merely means student) or "Madrasa" (which merely means school) in *any* context without fear of reprisal?
You can PM me if you wish to keep the thread on track ie. how Nikolai Smolenski and his band of merry minions have dug TVR into a deep(er) hole than ever before.

In relation to "oppressive" America, I suppose I'd prefer to live in this marvellously free country where a 70 year old pensioner in roughly manhandled out of a Labour Party conference and held for half and hour by the police under the prevention of terrorism act.
