Why is everyone I know, (and didn’t think I knew!) insisting on telling me about TVR!
This morning, getting the Tam out of the garage, the next door neighbour feels it important enough to shout at the top of their 80 year old voice (complete with wobbly head!!), to shout ‘CHRIS, CHRIS,, HAVE YOU HEARD - - DON’T KNOW IF YOU HAVE SEEN THE NEWS< BUT TVR ARE IN TROUBLE, this nearly burst my eardrums, even above my SS exhaust, telling the whole street, and then, someone 2 doors down tells me about TVR, with a grin on their face!!
I get to work, the same again!
What the hell is wrong with people, they seem so excited to inform an owner of the potential demise of a great little British based manufacturer, is it spite??

I have had exactly the same response from people in the office this morning.
The car is having some work done at the moment at Fernies, so when they saw it was not in my parking space out came the comments: Have you sold the TVR??????? Probably just as well the trouble they are in!!

Ive had the same, and yes I think it is spite, jealousy is a terrible thing........? When you have something others cant have, then you are going to get that. I remember a few years ago when I had, dare I say it, a new Boxster S and some tw*t had driven past and smashed the wing mirror to pieces. I told my colleagues at work and a few of them couldnt stop laughing....... now would they have done that if I had a mundano, I think not? Its part of owning things other peope would like you will have to get used ot it Im afraid.

I’m getting it as well, some bloke from Aston Martin came charging over to me last night at a petrol station as I was putting air in my tyres to tell me TVR was closing… I was polite but a bit snappy as I’d a bad day (TVR issues aside), I tried to set him straight on the limited facts that are available and did my best not wrap the hose around his neck…
I’m also getting it in the office and these are my employees…
I blame the crap PR coming out of the factory, it’s been bad for years, especially recently with the motoring press, but when you are dealing with the mainstream press, you have to spoon feed them clear, simple and consistent information, they are only looking to fill airtime or column inches and you have to make it easy for them and that way you can get your message over.
If my PR people had handled this last week as badly as TVR’s they would be more than fired…

It seems to be the right time for me to buy the Cerb I've always lusted after.... or a Griff, I lusted after that first, and it might end up being more collectable... but the kids will fit in the back of the Cerba nd we can all enjoy it....

I think a lot of people do actually care, but on the flipside some people just gloat about it and laugh as if their 3 series rep mobile is going to be anything near as beautifull or special as a Tiv

, I was the same, always loved the looks and noise above any other car, I worked hard, sacrificed other pleasures, and got one, and not regretted it once, driving it is like having all the good stuff you sacrificed to own it in one huge dollop, and it doesn't seem to diminish, and I am sure, for me at least, that it is down to the little 'quirks' of the little but very powerful hand built car. There may be a hint of jealousy with some, but I think that's down to the fact that every model, without exception (looking at the profiles for Nuggs, V8 Cerby etc), look so fantastic, and more importantly, timeless, compared to 99.9% of other cars on the roads today, and because theirs doesn't look and sound as good, they'll use anything to try and get one back at you.

LOL, I'll ask the dealers to up the revs on idle, and I'll leave it in the garage turned on for 5 minutes longer than usual!

Me- Nah...Some people got laid off, and they are relocating..

Me - It's called business streamlining (Before he can say anything else), am off...
He tries following to tell me some more, but I pull off in another road...

Hilarious night yesterday - went off to a restaurant, scared most of the incumbents pulling up (just had my exhaust sleeved) went inside....
A little later there was a veritable crowd gathering around the car, ignoring the two DB9s and Fezzas. All were examining the car in great detail, many nodding sagely and looking sombre. Looked like a wake!
When I left, several rushed out from their tables to wave me off. I mean the car.

Thanks Chris...I dont know what to expect when I first manage to earn the money to buy a TVR, but I know the one thing Im certain of...if I fit in one, I'll be happy!
Thinking about starting life with a S2 then moving onto a Griff & later a Cerb...thats the plan
Your experiences are the same as mine! Colleagues saying had I heard the news, neighbours telling me its all over. Life goes on, its called business cycles, its not nice to be made redundant (have had that happen to me, many years ago) but I am sure the marque will continue.
