Spray gun advice
Discussion
I'm looking at buying my girst spray gun and was looking for a little advice from a pro as to which type to buy. I'm just going to do small parts first, wing mirrors, bits of trim etc etc so I want something to do that type of job.
Do I go for a suction cup or gravity fed? What is HVLP?
Any help appreciated.

First things first I'm not a pro car painter but have done a lot of my own over many years, HVLP stands for high volume low pressure, I'm just in the process of spraying my own car using one of these guns for the first time, I also bought a pressure valve and gauge which fits at the base of the gun to regulate pressure entering the gun, after searching the web and asking around for information I found out that pressure at the tank outlet was to be around 40psi, using the valve at the gun I turned it down to 15-18psi, this set up is about right for me, when I used an 'ordinary' gun I had the pressure at the tank at about 50psi without any valve control, the HVLP guns cut down on overspray as well as using less paint so are more economical, It puts a lot of paint on so be aware that you may need some practice before letting loose on anything
personally if I was spraying small parts and just general touch up jobs I'd go for one like the type in Machine Mart, about £20 and maybe later if I wanted to do bigger jobs get a bigger gun £33 ish
Good luck
