I'm an insurance broker and one of my clients is getting one of the above in the next week or two, and I'm having a complete nightmare trying to get anyone to quote on it. It's a left hooker so it's only worth about £115K apparently. Unfortunately my expertise only extends to TVR's.

Does anyone know of any specialists I can direct him to?

Im assuming you've tried all of the usual insurance specialists, so its probably worth giving Lamborghini London a call or a Lamborghini sales specialist. I am sure they will be able to recommend an insurer.

Thanks for your help.

I've tried all the specialists I know, but they seem to stop at Ferrari's and Porsches, they appear to stick their heads in the sand when it comes to this beast!

I'll try the above suggestions and see where it gets me.

Once again thanks for your help.

Sorry about Off topic!!!

Craig.... LHD Diablo? I hope you can help me with a few questions too - what's an LHD Diablo like to drive around - specifically with reference to it being LHD - what I mean is that can you actually use it.... Ferraris have got fairly good visibility and the controls are no problem either... but a Diablo is something else....
Have you had to take it through central London - what was it like - can you really get used it ever - would a later 6.0 VT be any easier?

Andy,

I would certainly give AON a try, providing your client is over 30 years old. They are recommended by The Lambo club UK. I will be insuring mine with them as soon as I hit 30.

LHD Diablo's are probably not the easiest LHD supercar to drive in the UK!

The main problem is the width which takes a while to get used to.

I have not driven it in London and wouldn't be keen on doing so - I'd like to preserve the clutch as much as possible!

I drive a RHD F355 around London - the visibility is leagues better than the Lambo.

Having said that I think LHD Diablos represent great value as long as you don't use them as a daily driver. The clutch action on early cars is also much better on LHD models.

Bennetts Insurance will also sort out a Murcielago.

My business partner has a RHD Murcy. He is 34 and cost him £4,500.

Thanks for all your replies, unfortunately my client is only 29, and he also has a £24K claim to his name (fault) following an accident in a Ferrari 550 a couple of years ago.

It all adds up to some horrific quotes, £14K is my best so far!

B****y hell. I thought my combined £2000 for the Noble and X5 (£100k worth) was bad!

Thanks for the info Craig.

LHD Diablo.... the thought is just plain scary. I recently got into a late VT roadster (its at Talacrest) and I reminded me of how intimidating Lambos are... I couldn't see anything - ANYTHING - where the front begins/ends, the rear, the width, NOTHING.... and it was an RHD. The Murci was about as intimidating too but was a complete doddle to drive around though..... LHD Ferraris by comparison are no real problem at all.

Are there any Murcie owners on this board yet?

On the insurance front - I know of a 17 year old paying £18K on a 996 C2 - quite reasonable actually.

Although a phenomenal achievement, that's a lot more understandable Ajay. The driver will have built up 4 or 5 years driving experience. The 17 year old in the C2 is just a little worrying. I just hope he doesn't drive it with the same bravado with which I drove my 1.1 fiesta!!
