Cabin mounted video camera

I tried making a mount for a regular video camera. I set it up so that it hangs down 4 inches from the roll cage on the passenger side. Problem is, it picks up vibrations and starts oscillating.

I made it out of steel - pretty rigid but also springy.

I looked at commercial mounts, but couldn't find one that would hang below a roll bar.

Should I try making a mount out of something more rigid like CF?

Any other thoughts? I'd rather make a mount for my existing camera, than buy one of the specially made cameras just for this purpose.

I have a Manfrotto mount that swivels and twists wherever you want it and seems to work well. Can't work out yet why my sons video camera keeps switching itself off.

Thanks Steve - do you have a part number? I checked the Manfrotto website and couldn't find something that looked like it would work. Or maybe a photo if you don't have the part number and I'll keep hunting.

How about using a bullet camera? They seem to work fine in solid mounts - I've seen some video from a caterham with a solid mount setup and visible vibration was virtually nil, maybe because they weigh nothing they move around less.

Will look and see if I can identify exactly what I have but if you go to ebay and buy this suction mount and add to it this super-clamp you will have more than my setup as I don’t have a suction mount.

I have an SC1 which use to mount the camera upside-down from the roll cage, then I use Windows Movie-Maker to invert the video....
