I know this is a fairly common fault and each track day I check and mark up the rear hub nuts (ford Mondeo type). But the n/s/r constantly works loose. I have changed it several times, I have now resorted to drilling out the centre section on my M12 GTO-3 so I can inspect it at track days just so I don't have to keep removing the wheel. The disc is not warped, the wheel is balanced, the wheel bearing is fine, the shaft splines have no play, there is no vibration felt!!!
It is driving me mad as when it becomes loose the pads get pushed back by the disc and the pedle gets very long.
Anyone else had this problem, is there a solution/modification

Loctite red or green? They need heat to unstick them and are much stronger than the blue.

I had a spate of these problems as well - but my car has been off the road for 7 months so I don't know whether I still have the problem.
Surely using a cut down nut on top of the other one can't make that much difference as the nut it's self is made up of lots of layers anyway?
The only thing I did was locktite it and do it up with a 4ft wrench handle - ie f'ing tight.

The idea of locking the second nut against it is fine, however I would think that cutting down the second nut would be a waste of time because
a) The old nut would fall apart when cut down
b) The old nut is already stretched hence the reason it came loose in the first place
I have taken on board the advise and will be using a second nut as suggested but not the used original one
