Honda/Rover 2.7 V6
Discussion
Just wondering if anyone could proffer advice on getting more power out of this engine. There wasn't exactly an overabundance of tuning accessories when the engine was current and there are fewer still now, but I'm wondering if it could be centrifugally supercharged. I'm thinking of perhaps a Vortex blower, such as those used in Z engineerings VW conversions ? Will I need to play about with cams, pistons, CR etc. to use, perhaps, 7psi boost ? Does anyone know of any companies who could be relied upon to do the work ?
Hi JDH,
Good luck with the Phantom build - you lucky bugger!
Regarding supercharging, seem to remember seeing ads for a company a couple of years back that fitted Vortec superchargers to things like Lambos and TVRs, but don't know if they're still going or what they're called. Why not contact Vortec in the US and ask for details of UK agents.
Alternatively you might consider having a word with BBR in Brackley who seem to have done all sorts of one-off tuning jobs, including blower conversions.
Also, as mentioned in my Phantom road test, there is supposedly a company in the US that does a twin turbo kit for the engine. It was Chris at Phantom told me that one, so see if they have any more info.

Assuming thats the same engine as the Honda Legend (correct me if I'm wrong) There was a 2.7 Turbo engine produced in a very limited number. This had a twin turbo setup, a different ECU and some other more minor changes, this meant it could produce up to 270 BHP.
Only about 250 cars were produced like this for the Japanese market exclusively however it goes to show it has been done in the past.
Cheers
Matt.
