I'm just finalising the spec on the 360 and have a build date for June and I have an interesting and unexpected choice.

I can choose which tyres I want from Bridgestone, Michelin or Pirelli.

Any views?

I Think I'm erring Michelin, but I don't know why!!

I was member of a team that supported two 360's in the Ferrari challenge, and the If my poor memory serves me correctly we used Pirelli tyres. Not that this should influence you, but nobody else had commented! Had to get my tuppence in!

Weren't Pirelli a sponsor though? Having said that, I had PZeros on my 360 and have no complaints- they're supposed to be good all-rounders and I wouldn't argue with that. Bridgestone will probably be SO3s which others haven't rated so highly as the SO2s. I've no experience of Michelins, though soon will have since they are the only company making a tyre the right size to fit the 456 when it's SO2s wear out.

When it came time to replace my 360 rears I posted on FerrariChat this exact same question and received little concensus (IIRC none in fact). Went with PZeros in the end. If you do the same, remember its 32psi at the front, 28psi rear or the handling will have you convinced they're made out of chocolate.

Hi Bertie, have had a 360F1 and 360M, both run on Pirelli PZero's, mind boggling in the dry, so so in the wet.
If there is anything resembling a dry line, or even in intermediate conditions there is more than enough grip.. So good even on icy/ dry roads.

Went to Donington and it couldnt cope with the standing water.. no matter the tyre pressures.. ( 2 p's worth ....I think it has to do with the fact that it is a hard compound and needs heat to get working... In the wet it just remains too cold..)

Thinking of running something else next winter..

Out of interest having had both a manual and F1 which do you prefer?

I've gone for the manual after driving both, the F1 felt like a gimick which would wear thin after a while, rather like the clutch friction plate I understand!

thats about right.
Still undecided.... the F1 was plain fast.. it could live with Bikes, All wheel drive cars any car over a long distance no problems... Gave a 911 TT with the power upgrade a good run, But then £2k every seven thousand miles....

big traffic jams are a no no... it will over heat... and it was jerky in First on initial acceleration.
The very latest cars are very very good though.

had to get mine upgraded with the latest software patch. Still a fast tool.

in competition you notice all the WRC cars go off when they revert to the manual stick..
and standing on any pit wall during any given track day, you will notice how smooth the Sequential cars are.. no missed gears, no long delays on the clutch, just pretty smooth transitions

As for the manual, the initial take off in first is so smooth, I pull off with no gas and it is so good. Not sure if the ECu interferes, no other car I have driven does this so smoothly and quickly.. Boxster S 911 et all..
The gear changes take some getting used to. I think the gear lever is placed too far behind.. (for me) so I dont change with my palm.. it can be notchy

I had the gear linkage adjusted, and after two track days it gets better, forget hot knives and butter.

What colour / spec did you plum for ?
Also get the dealer to check the geometry and tyre pressures before driving off.

Good Choice!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info guys.

I'm going for the Manual Modena in Nero exterior and either nero interior and Bordeaux carpets, or tan interior and nero carpets, I'm still debating with myself.

Got to decide soon as it has to be specced by the end of the month!

Options are the Scuderia shields, red calipers, CD stack and HiFi sound.

Nero 360s look fabulous...Bertie - your colour spec is IMO - PERFECT (nero with bordeaux carpets)
Challenge rear grill on black cars looks AWESOME... worth thinking about - GENUINELY helps engine cooling as well. Of course, if you go for the rear challenge grill then you must go for the front challenge grills too.

I've had both the Pirelli and the Michelins on my Modena and they're both pretty good, but the Michelins perform better in the rain.
I suggest you try the Bridgestone,so...you give me some feedback and I know what to choose for my next set!(Michelins are already almost dead, not bad two full sets of tyres in 5000 kms! )
No seriously, the Bridgestones are not the S03s, they are the S02s with a tread pattern unique to the Modena.I'd go for these or the Goodyears.
Your 360 is almost like mine(cuoio interior)!(wanted to post a pic but have no clue how!?)

Thanks for the info on the tyres.
Since your car is a similar spec to what I'm considering could I ask a few questions?

I'm definately going for Nero exterior and my preferance, if I can find it, is for a darkish tan colour interior with black carpets. If not then nero interior and bordeaux carpets.

Which did you go for and do you have any pictures if I might be so bold?

In the tan / brown line I know of Crema and Sabia but they are both a bit light, is there a darker tan colour they do?

Cheers.

IIRC there is a colour called tabacco for the interior. It is darker than standard tan. Recall also that tan is darker than both Sabia and crema.

I think it goes something like (in order of lightest first)

Crema
Sabia
tan
tabacco

Ferrari had a website where you could view the different colour combos etc. Don't know if that still works or not.

I think Manu has a photo with all the colours available, maybe he can send you a copy or an email?

Thanks Ali, I wasn't aware that "tan" existed as a colour, let alone tobacco.

I'm down at Graypaul next week to finalise things so I suppose I'll get the full options then!

Nero/Nero is the top colour combo IMHO :-)

Hmmmmm. Got to agree with Rich on this Nero/Nero. A mate of mine used to have a 456 in nero with a dark tan (?) interior. It looked good but from a personal preference point of view nero/nero looked more menacing. After all when buying a Ferrari what's the point of being subtle.

Oh, and maranello rear grill and daytona seats would also be high up my list for a nero/nero car.

Just my two penny worth.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions......Enjoy!

cheers

Having bored you all with my deliberations I thought I'd bore you one last time.

My 360 is finaly specced, Nero Daytona exterior, Sabbia interior stiched black, black carpets, scuderia shields, red calipers and Challenge front grills.

I think it'll look stunning, roll on July!

And thanks to everyone for their help and opinions.
