why was this thread moved from the TVR general 'stuff'??? I don't think it was created to say what a great manifold supplier!! I got the feeling it was "WOW look at those chim manifolds"

sledge hammer and nut spring to mind! I think some just learned how to bend pipes and went to town on that one.. the other manifolds look fine.

Look like they've made the pipes equal length. When a mate of mine from Cosworth took a look at the Griff manifolds he just laughed and commented they must have been designed to fit - no tuning of primary lengths. Wonder if the swiss manifold has a torque benefit or something.

No worries Big Al don't beat yourself up about it!
although I think its stuck in purgatory now. mind you when you fix it I will just look a bit

eze grifter hows things? I also thought it may be tuned lengths. But someone just got a bit carried away with a bender, i think . it also led to re-routing the intake pipe as well

That was my assumption too when I saw the pics.
What's with the springs though?

The following means equal lenght pipes in German (Swiss) "alle Rohre gleich lang". And yes I was only amazed by them pipes, not trying to sell anything.

It's a common way to hold a joint together without relying on clamps etc, just make sure one tube is a push fit inside the other and use springs to prevent them from vibrating apart. Usually used on racers rather than road cars.

I had a bash at making a manifold with equal length tuned primaries for my Vixen. It was my first attempt but after seeing those, I've clearly got a lot to learn!

Darren - lovely looking Vixen you have clearly worked hard on. Just wondering, did you consider putting a bigger motor in? The 4 cylinder looks a bit skimpy (Stimpy? ) in that bay

Peter

Is this yours? I am so impressed by those manifolds. I have long wondered whether it would be possible to fit equal length manifolds under the deceptively spacious chimaera engine bay, and here it is question answered! Do you know what length they are and what revs they are tuned for. Wonder if it is possible to fit 180 degree headers at a reasonable tuned length? Make it sound like a GT40.

Also the twin plenum & twin air inlet induction system (quarter the intake losses!), looks like there on jenvey throttle bodies. This is really quite serious stuff! Is there any more info & figures on this?

Best rgds

Phil

Hi Jim,

I have considered using a bigger engine (there is plenty of room in that bay after all!) but gonna see what I can squeeze out of the crossflow first. A different engine could be on the cards as a first upgrade after she's finished though. We'll see how it goes!

They have really made an effort to make the primaries the same length..

Must be a tight squeeze for the air intake ducting?

this amazing car owns a friend (mine is the silver one).
the engine is custom made by tvr 2 years ago. it's a 5.2 litre
with single throttle valves and 4 ignition coils.
engine was fitted by eggimann cars in basel switzerland.
www.eggimann-cars.ch
the throttle bodies made one of our friends from british sports cars cup
in switzerland. www.bsc-cup.ch
then later he fitted the new manifolds made by kaeser-fahrzeugbau and
eggimann-cars.
the sound is just amazing...!!!
sorry there may some wrong technical terms in my english.
