Bonnet support rod

I have a minor problem with the fixing on the bonnet for the "free" end of the bonnet support rod (for want of a better name!) on my Cerbera.
The original fitting was replaced at some point by a plastic "U" clip into which the rod fitted but this has snapped off. Anyone had this problem? Are there any easy fixes or suggestions please?

Did you ever go the SI4.3 route? I'd like to do the same but can't be arsed to source bits and make it up. I have the Modwise stay but every time it goes in for any work they manage to fook it up so it doesn't woek properly and its needs loads of fiddling to get it to work again. It also seperates and I'm worried the inner wing bit will damage the paintwork.

Christ you wouldn't believe how difficult it is trying to find someone who works with such small ali.
I've found an engineering shop and rather than weld the bits together we are looking to make a spacer for the hole the rubber grommet will come out of and bolt the two bits together. This looks promising because it will be a simple mod for anyone to do so I'll look at having a few spacers made if it works OK. Another week and I'll know how we are getting on.

Bob, my sincere apologies we have hijacked this thread with something which is absolutely no use to you.
If its any help, have you looked for things like cable tidies etc from computer or office supplies shops. The bonnet clip you talk of reminds me of things I've seen at work.
