V8S - flat battery

I normally use another 12v battery but I don't see why a charger wouldn't do it.
Connect the earth lead to any convenient earth point.
Stand outside the car beside the driver's door so you can reach the ignition switch, boot release and the alternator.
Hold the +ve lead, ignition on, hold the boot release button down, firmly touch the +ve lead on the main 12v terminal on the back of the alternator and then take it off again. (Do it firmly to minimise the small risk of a spark zapping any electronics.)
If this doesn't work, with a little more effort you can apply the 12v directly to the boot solenoid (via the boot release relay socket).

You lads do not know how to have real fun with you Tiv.
Page 255 of the bible explains the much more interesting way of opening the boot lid.
However it does not mention the dislocated back (only applies if you cannot stand on your head, or you cannot or haven't ! invert your car), the lacerated fingers (due to glass bulb shards, edges of glassfibre bodywork etc. and the hours for time spent poking and searching for the 'missing link' (usually totally buried in carpet, glue or even removed completely by previous owner etc.)
finally the task is most fun in the dark, with rain running in torrents down collers and cuffs, with air temperature about 2 deg C.
This long lasting entertainment is far superior to an electrical 'quick-fix' !!! - and why we so love the individuality of our cars.
p.s. Before the Bible I actually used the 'manual' method (see above) because it was described written with shaky hand and occasional blood stain in the back of the car's hand book !

Thanks, my battery charger did not have the umph to open the boot lock but after half an hour charging via the alternator it opened with battery power. Funny thing as soon as I connected the charger the interior light came on with the door open as expected but now after some further charging it won't come on in either of the two on positions. Perhaps the sudden boost has blown the bulb
