Help anyone had this happen to them ?
When I pull off in first gear my car sometimes lurches forward sometimes quite violently. It seems even worse in reverse especially when reversing up an incline when I have to give it some revs. These symptoms seem more violent when the engine is hot. All other gears seem quite smooth.
Is it a) The clutch or b) the diff

Thanks for the suggestions Wildfire but it's definitely some sort of cluth transmission problem. The engine feels like it's trying to jump out of the engine bay. Had the engine and gearbox mounts replaced which hasn't made any difference. I don't know much about the diff and clutch but wondered if it's a release bearing or something like that's the cause of the problem. The car has done 72K so is this a sign that the clutch is on it's way out or the diff is worn. Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks Ralph but this is not a TP or airflow meter problem. The problem only happens from a standing start in first or reverse where the car quite violently shakes itself until it gets up to speed. Sometinmes it doesn't happen but I think that this is because i feather the clutch it also happens when the engine is cold and hot
