sun roof blanking out

anyone got any good methods for removing sun roofs, I have a sierra for competition use that has the roof taped up but think removal or replacement panel would be safer. Anyone know of a plastic replacement or a good way to fill the roof without having to replace the whole roof panel?

The only thing i know for e30 BMW is a CF blank panel with a return flange which most guys bond in with windscreen sealer.

Get hold of a copy of this month's Practical Performance Car magazine. An excellent article in there on how to make your own composite panels. Use the existing sunroof as a mould and make the extra thickenss enough to take up the space liberated by the seal, then have an overlap underneath so you can attach it with generous silicon sealant and welded overlap plates if necessary.

I would have thought ther must be some sort of thick plastic or something available that could be cut to size. Just cant find anything. I will try making a composit panel failing that.
